Natural Resources

 

Penn's Woods are an area rich in natural resources. Early industry focused on unsustainable pillage of nature's bounty in Pennsylvania. Clear cut forests, strip coal mines, polluted water and air are all legacies of that early industry. Today, some industry is focused on sustainable management of the resources left. Environmental damage has a lot of inertia, so it takes lots of pollution to damage a place and lots of time to recover. Data below tracks how quickly the environement is changing.
