The Social section focuses on data related to society and human interaction. Below are data and reports associated with crime, demographics, and health among other topic areas.

Community Health​

Data within relates to the physical health of the inhabitants of the five county area. Trends in health are an important quality of life indicator. Recognizing trends in health data can help identify lifestyles and environemntal factors that are shortening people's lives.

Demographics​

Demographic data related to population, human movement, and average age. Changing characteristics of inhabitants within the region should inform policy decisions to make sure future policy is as effective as possible.

Social Indicators

Governance​

Governance data helps understand how state, regional, and local policies effect inhabitants and how or if inhabitants respond. For example, the rejection of the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion has had a huge effect on the availability of healthcare in the region. Governenace data also involves political participation, and participatory politics. 

Security

 

Data related to any actions that break already established laws or harm the person or property of another. These have an obvious social cost. Tracking their frequency and effect is important to recognize the extent of the problem as well as the effectiveness of solutions.
